Inviting Input

In the third Darcy/Flora book, in progress, Darcy and Flora set about solving a mystery which has its roots in the past–in 1918, to be exact. Best Left Buried is the title and it aptly describes what several people keep telling Darcy. It’s best not to dig too deeply into the mystery behind the box they dug up. But this mother/daughter duo, being naturally inquisitive, cannot just forget it and so find themselves in a spate of present-day danger.

In these published cozy mysteries, The Cemetery Club and Grave Shift, and now in the soon-to-be-published Best Left Buried, my co-author Barbara Burgess and I have endeavored to develop a small town atmosphere in Levi, Oklahoma where people know each other and generally everyone is friendly. Of course, there are exceptions to most every rule and that’s where the intrigue comes in. In spite of Flora’s reputation as the best coffee-brewer in Oklahoma, sampling that coffee while discussing clues at the old wood dining table, or puzzling over the unknown while sitting in front of the fireplace with Jethro the cat, solving a mystery is never easy. And a trail that is almost a hundred years old is especially hard to follow. But I have it on good authority that Darcy and Flora will unearth more than a wooden box and will bring to light a secret that began almost a century earlier. While embroiled in this adventure, Darcy and Sheriff Grant Hendley’s relationship develops and Flora re-kindles her friendship with lawyer Jackson Conner.

I would like for you, the reader, to tell me what you liked best and least about the two published books. What would you like to see more of in the future? I look forward to hearing from you.
