This is an example of one of my favorite parts of Deb’s review: As a reader I immediately connected with her and was drawn into the mystery right along with her. I love the old Victorian home and land, it adds a dimension to the mystery and is such an important part of the story. 
As a writer, this is what I strive for: I want the reader to feel she is right there with Ned. I want her to feel, see and hear the same things Ned does.
One of my all-time favorite writers is Mary Roberts Rinehart. I am reading a modern adaptation of her book, The Circular Staircase. The name of this book is Death at Daybreak by Roxanne Hunter. I have never read an adaptation before and as I read, I recall Rinehart’s book which I’ve read at least twice. Death at Daybreak is an interesting read, a well-written mystery.
After a month’s absence, the Cozy Critters will once again meet around my hundred-year old table today to discuss books, reading, writing, all things literary and a few things that are not. Chocolate chip cookies are at the ready and the coffee will be hot. I’m looking forward to hearing what has been going on with each of these, my friends, since before Christmas. Tomorrow, I’ll let you in on what we’ve talked about. It may be intense, it may be emotional, but after today, our discussion will not be a mystery…just a pleasant memory to tuck away for later.
