Hunters’ Moon

The full moon was lovely last night and I’m sure it will be again, tonight. It’s the Hunters’ Moon, a time when hunters used the moon’s silvery light to scout around and try to find meat for the coming winter. It’s also a super moon because it is very close to the earth in its orbit. These super moons occur three or four times a year, according to NASA.

Although people don’t need to get out and hunt by the light of the moon any more, at one time, they did. This is carrying a bit of our interesting past with us into the present. It’s a connection with those who have gone before us.

Other things besides hunting happen when the moon is a full, silver orb high above us. If you want to delve into some of the strange events that occurred in a certain small town, I invite you to look no further than By the Fright of the Silvery Moon as Ned narrowly escapes a terrible fate and uncovers a shocking mystery.
