Do Golf Balls Grow on Trees?

Do Golf Balls Grow on Trees?

Can you guess what this is?  If you guessed a golf ball stuck in a tree with bark growing around it, you’d be right.

My brother Tracy Day who, along with my sister-in-law Carlene, live in Branson, sent me this interesting photo. At a glance it looks as if the tree may be the first of its kind to sprout a golf ball. Can you imagine the run on nurseries, with golfers wanting to plant a whole orchard of this amazing tree? Actually, Tracy took a picture of it because the ball evidently has been lodged in its leafy bower for some time; so long,  in fact,  that the tree is growing around it. I can’t tell if the tree is squeezing the golf ball into a different shape or if it just looks that way.

I’ve been in situations where I’ve felt much like that golf ball would if golf balls had feelings, situations that didn’t feel right to me, where I was out of my natural environment, where I kept smiling until my face felt stiff and was glad when at last I could escape back to comfortable surroundings.

If you’ll look closely, you will see the name of the ball’s maker stamped on it. So we know who made it and what it is but not how it got there nor how long it has been there. It’s one of those mysteries. And around such are woven some of the writer’s most intriguing plots!
