Heart Stitches and Penguin Eggs

Heart Stitches and Penguin Eggs

As I selected the yarn, I thought of you.

Friends are like colors in different hues.

They bring forth a light, each in their own way,

Making them the person that we love today.” — Stitches from the Heart.

The above verse is part of a poem by Jane. She brought an “interactive presentation” to the critique yesterday. I like those! She read a poem written especially about us Cozy Critters, then she asked us to choose a color and presented us with a lovely, soft scarf she had knitted. My color was green. She also gifted each of us with a copy of her beautiful poem. Thanks, Jane. 012 (2)

Peg is having fun with a special coloring book of the Bible. Some colors look perfect against each other and some don’t. But, that’s the way God planned it.

Peg, the voracious reader, has enjoyed Janet Evanovich’s Tricky 22 and Kate Carlisle’s Crowned and Moldering. She is also a fan of Ellery Adams’ Writing All Wrongs. I think Peg especially enjoys this because it is about Olivia who is part of a critique group. Hmm. That bears looking into.

Peg also mentioned Pouncing on Murder by Laurie Cass.

We were all thrilled to hear that Helen has a Christmas story included in Christmas Moments, a Book of Christmas Stories. It is compiled by Yvonne Lehman and published by Grace Publishing. Helen’s story is The Light. The message of the story is that Christmas lights are taken down after the Christmas season but the one Light which they represent stays with us all year.

Helen had four brand-new devotionals for us to critique. It is always a pleasure to read Helen’s articles. They are uplifting and joyous.

Cozy Critters are multi-taskers. Helen is talented in sewing as well as writing. She brought several colorful potato bakers that she made. Thank you so much, Helen! 014

Catching the group up with Darcy’s latest escapade, I read a current chapter from Darcy and Flora’s fourth cozy, to be published next year. Circumstances have made it imperative that Darcy go to Atlanta. But, while she is there, she discovers some things she was not looking for!

Since this was our last critique until next year, I gave each Critter a penguin egg made especially for them. Not to worry, I did not go to the ice shelf on Antarctica and rob the nest of some hapless penguin. Mine are harmless tree decorations made from a chicken egg. I blew out the contents, washed the egg, applied acrylic paint, a bit of felt, a dab of glue and there is was! A small, egg-shaped penguin!003

As Jane said, Our memories are knit together as we meet each week,

Sharing special moments…is what we seek.

Knowing that we are safe in the company of

Friends who are joined together in friendship and love!

  1. Such cute penguins! We still hang the egg on the Christmas tree that you painted for Paul so many years ago. Sweet memories!
