Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow! Six more weeks of winter. It’s always kind of fun to see the big deal the folk in Pennsylvania and other places make of Groundhog Day. I have a feeling, though, we’d have six more weeks of winter anyway.
Wit, wisdom and fun crackled around the hundred-year old table at yesterday’s critique. Peg has been reading a lot of her old favorite cozy mysteries and is eagerly awaiting the new releases from Ellery Adams, Paige Shelton, Mary Kennedy, and Donna Andrews. The mystery she is reading right now is Bowled Over by Victoria Hamilton.
Jane has been so busy working on church projects she hasn’t done much writing. She is, however, doing a still-life painting. I hope when she gets it finished, she brings it to share with the group.
Nancy is using her book, The Grace Impact, to teach a women’s Bible study at her church. Wonderful, practical idea! At the end of this month, she will be using her book to teach a workshop at a women’s conference in Manhattan, Kansas. In March,she’ll be speaking at a conference in Collierville, Tennessee. She will be teaching a blogging workshop. And then, in April, it’s off to Nebraska for another writer’s conference. This Cozy Critter is logging some serious traveling and teaching hours.
I read a few chapters of my latest completed cozy, By the Fright of the Silvery Moon. All the Critters shivered at just the right times. After I get the manuscript back from first readers, I’ll incorporate their edits and suggestions, read it One More Time, and ship it off to my publisher.
Flight of fancy–could I use one of my cozies to teach a workshop on writing mysteries? Interesting thought, but first I’d need an audience. Heh.

I was pleased to see a new review on the audio book, Grave Heritage. I reprint it here. I do appreciate the review.
Grave Heritage, by Blanche Day Manos, is another great addition to the Darcy and Flora Cozy Mystery series. With a mystery man on Darcy’s doorstep in the first scene, readers are drawn into this mystery right at the outset. And with a flood, missing sisters and a couple murders the story just keeps getting better and better. Just who was the mystery man and who is the new guitar-playing pastor at the church? How are they connected to the murders? Can Darcy and Flora solve this one without becoming victims themselves?
Narrator Michelle Babb does her usual great job of telling the story and bringing the characters to life. Another wonderful listen!
