Yesterday was one of those whirlwind days but a good day in every way. Even going to the dentist wasn’t bad as I am convinced I have the most gentle dentist around. Then lunch at my brother’s and sister’s-in-law house and I was the recipient of gifts from their garden. Okra, squash, tomatoes, cucumbers! All those things that are a part of an abundant summer. They have a flourishing garden and the deer don’t seem to like their mixture of egg and water they sprinkle around so maybe the deer problem is solved.
The Oklahoma summer day was just that…hot and humid and perfect for all plants. I picked about a gallon of grapes. The sun was hot and the mosquitoes were ready with their sharp bills but I sprayed thickly and picked quickly. Now I can make some delicious grape jelly. About half of the grapes were ripe but no matter. I’ve discovered that green grape jelly is every bit as tasty as the purple kind. With this many grapes still green, my jelly will come out a beautiful rose-pink color.
But before I did any of that, I stopped by to see my friend Norma. She had fixed breakfast for me! We caught up on news over hot mocha coffee, blueberry muffins, and thumbprint cookies. Then I saw her own garden. I’ve always admired her back yard. She has every available space bursting with either color or good things to eat. And then of course, she has the fish pond which is ecologically balanced and the fish thrive.
Today after exercises and luncheon with several ladies at Fran’s, I hope to continue with writing. My fingers are itching to finish the third Darcy/Flora book. I believe it may be as exciting a read as The Cemetery Club and Grave Shift. I hope you think so too. I’m aiming for an end of summer finish date.
And over it all, I feel God’s blessing. Yesterday was blessed. Today is blessed. I hope your day is too.
Thank you so much for coming and the new devotional book. I always enjoy visiting with you and sharing how God has blessed me. Glad you had a good day..
