O world, I cannot hold thee close enough!
Thy winds, thy wide grey skies!
Thy mists, that roll and rise!
So said Edna St. Vincent Millay in her poem, God’s World. Have you ever wanted to just stretch out your arms and give God’s world a big hug? It’s a great feeling, this love for beautiful, blue skies peppered with a few sun-lit clouds, tall and stately trees, the deliciousness of cool grass beneath my bare feet. Maybe it’s knowing that I am a part of God’s creation, that He chose to place me here in this place at this time and I am grateful. It’s awe mixed with gratitude and a bit of exultation thrown in.
Authors and poets, artists in all fields must have felt this way as they, in their human way, created a bit of what God did in His infinite way. It’s an emotion that comes as I gaze at an awe-inspiring painting, or close a book with a satisfying sigh. It’s a glimpse into the incredible wisdom, love, and beauty of my Creator. A reflection of Heaven.

I am always amazed how we were created with a love for beauty. Such a reflection of God’s personality. He could have made everything black and white but He created us to enjoy beautiful things, as He obviously does too!
Yes, I think so too, Sharon. I’ve always thought that the Garden of Eden must have been patterned after Heaven and beautiful things here on earth reflect a Creator who loves order and beauty.
