Fun, food, flowers, and tales of farm life accented the cozy critique yesterday. If anybody had a slight case of the blues, those blues were banished by the laughter and creativity that settled into my dining room with the advent of the Cozy Critters.
It’s nice to belong to a critique group that believes in the power of prayer. That is an encouraging thing. Nancy, author of The Grace Impact, read to us a devotional that she plans on sending to a periodical. It was Let God Love You and the Scripture reference was Ephesians 3:17-18: We often hide from God’s love because we have sinned. We sometimes forget that God loves us and reaches out to us through His steadfast love. Even when we hide from God, He still loves us. That is a comforting thought.
Carolyn came bearing gifts of lovely gladiolas and yummy squash, zucchini, and banana peppers, straight from her garden. Nothing beats home-grown vegetables for taste and nutrition.
I love Carolyn’s farm stories! She kept Nancy and me in stitches with tales of her curious calves and their exploits. It is a full-time job for Carolyn and her husband to rescue the little four-legged darlings when they get their heads stuck, or for one reason or another are deprived of their mama’s milk.
Carolyn is a busy lady. Between caring for the farm critters and painting lovely pictures, she still finds time to write. She is working on a story about Gordon the Goat. This is a story with a special meaning that has been requested by a friend.
She is very good at poetry. So, I present here, in full, a fetching rhyme that illustrates the way she feels about getting her hair done. I think its title is Hair Do.
Soft, wavy curls are out; wearing your hair straight is the trend.
A new fifty-dollar hair-do is turned into a mop
By a strong and blustery wind.
I reported on the progress of By the Fright of the Silvery Moon. Everyone concerned with getting it into circulation is working hard to make sure it is released as soon as is practicable.
Apex has done another attractive book trailer for me, this one for the fourth Darcy and Flora cozy, Grave Heritage. If you haven’t seen it yet, please click on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6TvJWm3Qo8&feature=youtu.be And, I’ve a favor to ask. If you haven’t already done so, would you mind copying and pasting this link onto your Facebook page? Darcy and Flora and I would really thank you!
Jane is off on vacation, having a great time. Peg, not so great. She’s under the weather so these two Critters couldn’t be with us for our critique yesterday. We missed them both and hope that next time, they’ll be right as rain, sitting in their chairs which were empty yesterday, with stories to tell of their own.
