Fun-Filled Fancy

Let me tell you, writing a cozy mystery is fun!  In my first series, Darcy and Flora come to life. We look in on them in their hometown of Levi and learn why they are both living in the old farmhouse. We shiver at the danger they inadvertently step into and sigh with relief when the bad guys are vanquished. We drink coffee with them at the hundred year old table and find out both women have men who are important to them. Who could forget their tumble down Deertrack Hill or their shock at what had lain hidden for several years?

The moonlight series introduces a new amateur sleuth, Ned McNeil. Ned never meant to be a sleuth nor get involved in so many dangerous scrapes, but when she arrives home only to find her uncle has been murdered, what else can she do? Along the way to solving a very old puzzle, she comes face to face with treachery and falsehoods. Ned, however, has true and faithful friends who gather around and share the danger.

In each cozy mystery ever written (that’s my favorite genre) the author has the extreme fun of creating a whole new cast of characters and placing them in the area of her choosing. The writer’s imagination is her only limit as she creates plots and sub-plots. It’s a fun-filled and rewarding fancy.
