The Cemetery Club, ebook, will be free on Amazon.com Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thunder rattles around the heavens this morning and a light rain is falling. So much for mowing my lawn today! But, that’s OK too because spring rain is certainly good for everything, especially my newly-planted flowers.
Flowers remind me a bit of a story and the way it begins. An idea, a seed takes root in my mind and then grows and blooms. Isn’t that the way things start? It’s my goal to write an interesting, captivating story that is good from start to finish and in between without resorting to foul language or steamy scenes.
One of the things I heard growing up was that people who use profanity have a limited vocabulary. Or perhaps they do it for shock value. I think it began that way in the movies, for shock value. But now, it is such a common practice that no one is shocked any more and our senses are dulled to it. Sad to say, many times it is taken for granted.
If you’ll notice, the really memorable books and movies made a place for themselves because they were good stories and had good actors. That was what entertained people a few decades ago. Nobody needed the added luridness of vulgarity.
And, as one of my reviews accused me, I’m being preachy. So, okay.
We’re off into another week and I hope for you and for me, it is a happy, profitable, fulfilling one, blessed by the One who loves us all.
