First Day of Fall

Well! It’s here again–fall, that is. Summer 2024 is a thing of the past and now we’re into a brand-new season–new, but as old as time. The earth turns, keeps spinning, and here we go, right along with it.

The giant marigolds in front of the porch shine golden this morning and a few zinnias are still blooming. Leaves and stems are green, for the most part, but the black-eyed Susans died a few weeks back. They were beautiful while they lasted, though.

Yesterday, I realized I didn’t have out the usual fall decorations, so, diving into boxes in the garage, I found the chrysanthemum centerpiece, the fall gourds, and the cornucopia that usually sits on the piano during this season. Now, inside the house is looking more like fall, as well as outside.

This first day of fall happens to be the first day of the week too, the Lord’s Day. But, aren’t all the days the Lord’s Days? As we swing into a new season, may it be a peaceful, healthful, encouraging time for each of us. And don’t forget, one of the best friends you can take with you, just about anywhere you go, is a cozy mystery! Best Left Buried is a fall mystery, and it’s a perfect companion for this season of the year!
