It’s a Fact–We Need Fiction

003At three o’clock this morning, snow was flurrying. Dad would have said, “It’s spittin’ snow.” I don’t see any now but the weatherman said there’s a chance for more flurries. It’s a day for the fireplace blazing and staying snug inside with a good book. I’ve read a couple of Joanne Fluke’s cozies of late. It’s always a happy day for me to find another author that I like.

This morning I’m thinking about fiction and how we need it. A good mystery or any other well-written book of fiction is like taking a mini-vacation, free of charge, in the comfort of my living room. Add a cup of coffee, the fireplace, and my dog dozing at my feet and it’s a winning combination.

Tomorrow is the day when my friends, the Cozy Critters, will come to sit around the table, for lively discussions. Two of us are fiction writers. Two of us write devotional pieces and a couple of us do both inspirational, fiction, or poetry. We are all readers and gentle critiquers. It looks as if tomorrow will be another nippy day. The Cozy Critters sitting around my hundred-year-old table will warm winter’s chill. As a take-off of one of my favorite songs: The weather outside is frightful but a gentle critique aided by the fireplace, cookies, and coffee, is so delightful!

  1. Hi! I’m glad you’re enjoying Joann Fluke! I just wanted to add a word of caution-she has two other books out that are definitely NOT cozies! I didn’t particularly like them.
