Are There Explanations for These Strange Mysteries?

Life has many mysteries as puzzling as fictional ones, happenings that have never been explained. These intrigue me.

Amelia Earhart’s disappearance is one of those mysteries. I read a news story that may explain what happened to this daring pilot. And then again, it may not. In 1937, she was attempting to fly around the globe with co-pilot Frederick J. Noonan. Somewhere over some Pacific islands, she disappeared. She made more than 100 radio calls for help, but no one could find her or her plane. That seems impossible to us with modern tracking methods, but remember, this was nearly eighty years ago. Her courage is inspirational but it’s terribly sad to think of the way her attempted flight ended. How awful to be injured and need help, to send out radio signals which were picked up, yet no one could locate her. Will the mystery of her fate ever be solved?

Another real-life mystery is the courage of those who, at the risk of death, dare to publicly state what they believe and not be moved. I’m thinking in particular about Martin Luther. On October 31, 1517, he nailed to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenburg, Germany, ninety-five revolutionary opinions that would begin the Protestant Reformation. I’ve read a bit about Luther and I stand in awe of the fearlessness of this one man who dared take on the influence and corruptness of the church. From what I read, he knew that he could be killed. The wonder is, he wasn’t. I believe God had His hand of protection over Martin Luther and his family.

What happened to big band leader Glen Miller? On December 15, 1944, he disappeared and. although there are several different theories, no one is sure what happened. Mr. Miller was an Army major and took part in counter-propaganda campaigns against the Nazis. He was bound from England to France to perform for Allied troops when his plane simply disappeared. It has always seemed strange to me that this talented man, so popular decades ago for hits like “Tuxedo Junction” and “Chattanooga Choo-Choo” could vanish; here one moment, gone the next.

My older cousins have seen strange, ghostly lights around an old graveyard at Etta Bend. Were these cousins just kidding? No, I think they were serious. I believe them. But, what were those lights? Nobody has ever explained them.

What happened to a young woman who had been missing for two years? Did she leave of her own free will or not? Was her burial place ever found? This is not a real mystery, but entirely of my own imagination. The answers lie in Grave Shift.

Was Cherokee gold really brought to Oklahoma along the Trail of Tears? Did it lie buried in some hidden cave? Have you read The Cemetery Club?

Was everyone in a small Oklahoma town really who they seemed to be or did some of them hide secrets that had been buried many years ago? Was Darcy involved? Were some things really Best Left Buried?

We all have a heritage. In fact, I guess we have many. We should be proud of what time and events have given us, but Flora was worried about Darcy’s inheritance. It turned out not be such a happy one after all, but an entirely surprising one in Grave Heritage.

What was the secret Uncle Javin carried in his heart? Why did he need Ned to leave her home in Atlanta and hurry to his side? Why was Ned too late to hear his fears and who killed her last living relative? Was it true that Moonlight Can Be Murder?

We all know that houses, like people, have a past. Someone built them, people lived and died within their walls. So, what lay in the walls of Granger Mansion that would cause someone to stop at nothing to find its secret? And, why on earth did it all happen By the Fright of the Silvery Moon?

Mysteries–both real and imagined. Where would we be without them?
