The temperature registered forty-seven degrees this morning! How is that possible? I looked out my window at 6:30 and couldn’t see a thing. The morning was still dark. I can’t believe it. Where did the summer go? Fall does this every year…slips up on me. I guess the only thing to do is accept it, as Nemo does. He is totally relaxed in his favorite position.
Nothing bothers him, whatever season. He takes it as it comes. Smart little dog.
As I walked down the sidewalk yesterday, acorns crunched under my feet. The squirrels have nothing to fear this year. They’ll have plenty to store to last until spring. Does a plentiful supply of acorns mean we’ll have a bad winter? I’m always looking for weather signs.
Did you watch last night’s debate? I think it is amusing that two opposing candidates shake hands after such a fiery discussion of opposing views. It’s as if they are saying, “OK. That’s over. Let’s go have a cup of coffee.” Not that they actually do that. It’s a paradoxical situation seems to me; but then, I probably just don’t understand such things.
I remember viewing a courtroom case, many years ago. It was about a land dispute and each side had a lawyer representing it. I know for a fact that these lawyers, so bitterly accusing each other during the courtroom drama, were friends who socialized with each other.
Another thing comes to mind: in biblical days, mourners were hired to cry and weep in anguish when someone died. I guess they had only so many tears for an agreed upon sum. Pardon me; I’m just being cynical. I just hope that Presidential candidates really do believe what they are saying, that their decisions are based upon solid beliefs, and after a debate, they still stand firm on those expressed principles.
So begins another fall day, the last Tuesday in September 2016. It’ll never come again. It’s a gift from God. I hope to use it well and enjoy it along the way.
