Edging into Fall

Edging into Fall

Would you believe it’s 55 degrees this morning? Yesterday morning, very early, the thermometer registered 49. It never fails to surprise me, each fall, when the earth begins to cool toward winter. Yet, the same thing happens year after year, and to me, it’s reassuring.

Yesterday morning, when I poured water into my coffee maker, it just poured right out again, all over my cabinet. Yes, sad to say, the old coffee maker bit the dust! Well, goodness, that would never do. So, I boiled a couple of cups. That’s what the old cowboys used to do, wasn’t it, when they were on a trail drive or something? More power to them! They not only had to deal with grounds in the cup, but in keeping the campfire going and balancing the pot over the flames! Needless to say, the first item on my agenda yesterday was to buy a new coffee maker. Which, I did.

This morning, all is well. The coffee tastes fine. The morning is bracing, and all is off to a good start. I hope your morning is too, and whatever you have planned for the day, do squeeze in time for another cup of coffee and a good cozy mystery!
