It’s such a wonderful early morning. The street is clear of snow but snow still carpets lawns and roofs. Winter trees stand out, black and brown against the white, their branches woven in intricate embroidery. All is quiet. Not a car, not a person in sight. Not even an early-rising squirrel.
Contrasts–black on white, stillness against the coming rush of the day. How very dull if there were no differences in life, if everything was the same, if we all looked the same, acted the same, thought the same way.
I encourage you, in whatever place you are in life, to be the very best you that you can be. If you’re in a not-so-great situation, be the contrast, make the difference. If you find yourself in the midst of a dull conversation with which you disagree, be the contrast and speak up. If you find that you are expected to act in a certain way, but it’s uncomfortable to you, do it your way, not someone else’s. You are in your own skin, so rejoice. Be glad. You don’t have to think, act, or be a part of the monotone.
As someone said on an old-time TV show, “You are you and I am me and that’s why I love you so much.” Long live the contrasts.
