This period of time is traditionally referred to as the dog days of summer. May I say that every summer should be like this one! The temperature is not quite fifty-eight degrees this morning. Blue skies, low humidity, and delightful weather smile down on us. Some dogs, who cannot defend themselves against being associated with what are usually summer’s hottest days, celebrate by taking a nap.
Whether the day is crisp and cool, wet and windy, or sunny and serene, the courageous Cozy Critters brave the elements to gather around my hundred-year old table and settle in for a couple of hours of stimulating conversation, an exchange of ideas, and helpful hints on writing. And today is that day! We never know what will transpire outside, like the violent windstorms which took down branches and blew tiles off picnic tables during a couple of cozy critique, but we have a pretty good idea that inside, we will nibble on cookies, sip tea and coffee, and enjoy being together. Whether the calendar says summer or winter, it’s a good day for a cozy critique.
