I Declare; This Isn’t Just Fiddle Faddle

Being brought up in Oklahoma, I’ve heard most of these Southern sayin’s all my life. I don’t think they’re odd. I thought everybody talked this way. They make perfect sense to me; don’t they to you?

One thing I’ve learned through life is not to take things for granted–success in any field, particularly in writing. I’ve learned not to count my chickens before they hatch. Now, I don’t think that aspiring to be a successful author is bitin’ off more than I can chew. Do you? Or, do you just think I can’t see the forest for the trees?

Of course, if things don’t turn out as well as I’d like, I’ve learned through the years, to just let it slide off like water off a duck’s back. I’ve also learned when I’ve done my best and success eludes me, I don’t run around like a chicken with its head cut off nor let it ruffle my feathers.  However, I do sometimes speak up when I feel that I have a bone to pick. Used to, I’d sit like a bump on a log and fume but I don’t do that any more.

In fact, I’ve been known to voice my opinion to the point that it has been said I’d argue with a fence post. I declare, I think that was unwarranted. Maybe I write cozy mysteries because I like to see justice prevail and don’t want anybody to get the short end of the stick. Writing cozy mysteries is also fun because most people like a slight case of heebie jeebies as long as they are safe and snug in an easy chair with the light on!

Well, I haven’t had as much fun in a coon’s age so I’ll hush and consider what I’ve written, sort of like a cow chewin’ its cud.

    Hi Blanche
Since I bought your book on amazon.ca, it looks like that is where the review will be posted. I changed over to amazon.ca because it was a bit cheaper to buy books. Hopefully, you will get some Canadian readers!

  3. They do have the .com reviews on the Canadian site but my review is not on the .com site

There are others! I guess they are so much a part of my vocabulary that I don’t think about them half the time!

  6. RE: Fiddle Faddle…I’d say that’s about it in a nutshell.

Yep! Another one is, “madder than an old, wet hen.” Remember that? And I’ve seen an old, wet hen, and she was pretty angry!
