It Was a Dark and Stormy Night…

It certainly was a dark and stormy night. It was also a bit sleepless  because I stayed awake watching the storms’ progress across the states into Arkansas. I’m thankful for our meteorologists who miss sleep to keep us up on what’s happening in the heavens that affects us here on earth. Last night, it was some pretty strong storms that affected us.

My maple tree is still. Not a leaf stirs. Is it waiting for another onslaught of wicked weather or is it recovering from last night?

If you’ve ever watched a flock of birds before a coming storm, you’ll notice they chatter and gather together and busily discuss things before they hunker down for the duration. My neighbors and I did pretty much the same yesterday before the storms rolled in. Sad to say, one of my neighbors has sold his house and is moving. I was in the yard planting flowers when his real estate agent came. She and I started talking. It seems that her cousin is related to someone who may be related distantly to me. Interesting!

After she drove off, my neighbor sauntered over. “I hear you are related to my real estate agent,” he said.

We were standing on the sidewalk, talking, when another young neighbor came over with her new baby in his carrier. Then came the neighbor to my west. And, Peg, seeing us clumped on the sidewalk, walked up to ask what was going on.006

It was nice, standing and talking, getting caught up on each other’s lives . If I haven’t mentioned it before, I live on one of the quietest streets with the best neighbors. We’ll miss the one who is moving but look forward to a new family and getting acquainted with them.

Today, more friends get together as the Cozy Critters meet. True, Arkansas sometimes has storms but it also has some pretty wonderful people.
