If you haven’t watched the book trailer for Grave Shift, I invite you to do so now. It is a glimpse into one of the scariest of the Darcy and Flora cozy mysteries. As I wrote it, along with the make-believe, I mixed in the real event of Oklahoma earthquakes. That, plus the uncovering of a two-year old secret equals a surprising finish.
It’s fun to dip into real-life events and mix them in with fiction. The full moon inspired the Ned McNeil moonlight series. And, tomorrow night comes the blue moon which is also the blood moon. Now, don’t you think that really needs to appear in the next mystery?
I’m reading the Royal Spyness series by Rhys Bowen. She sets these romantic mysteries in England in the 1930s. It’s fun that she mixes in real people–the queen, Wallis Simpson, the protocol, the perils, the rules and romances with a really good mystery.
January is winding down, hard as it is to believe. Whatever you are planning for today, I hope it is fun. I’m sure it will be worthwhile. Don’t forget that a good cup of hot, strong coffee (or several cups) makes the day go better. Remember, a little mystery makes life more interesting. Just be sure that is has a happy ending and is a warm and cozy one.
