It would be hard to over-state how much I appreciate the ladies who meet at my house twice a month to listen, learn, laugh, and help each other sharpen our writing skills. We missed Nancy and hope her grandbaby is soon well. The news around the hundred-year old table went like this: Peg is reading a series by Sophie Kelly about cats with special abilities. Helen brought two recent copies of Evangel, which had bought two of her recent inspirational articles. One of those we critiqued last fall, so we felt especially proud and happy for Helen. Helen also shared that she had read a book at the city library by our local Duggar family, Twenty and Counting. It is a wonderful book, well worth reading.
Jane treated us to a neat, highly entertaining and amusing children’s story she has recently written about a duck named Murphy. Now, Murphy is not your ordinary duck. In the first place, he is a bird with more than the usual amount of curiosity. In the second place, he has one wonderful adventure after the other.
And, these three ladies gave me some helpful pointers on Moonlight Can Be Murder. The book is coming along and one of these days, we’ll deem it ready to meet the reading public.
If you suspend disbelief, you can almost see these four lovely ladies are the Cozy Critters. You’ll notice in the picture, they have pencils and papers near at hand which are symbols of hard-working writers. Of course, the picture doesn’t tell the whole story. For example, you can’t see the cookie munching, coffee sipping, and, most of all, you can’t hear the laughter. All of this took place yesterday. Even though we had fun, the suggestions we offered were serious but this was a gentle critique, always the best kind, offered in the spirit of friendship.
Love the pic. It’s a fun way to show your group. I’m very excited about your new book.
Love the picture. Which one am I?
Hmm. Let me see…actually, I think you could just take your pick because each one is pretty nifty!
Thanks, Norma. I’m excited too. It’s a lot of fun to write it!
