Well, I didn’t exactly get chilblains from staying outside so long yesterday but I did get a pretty good case of the shivers! And these were shivers caused by the cold, not by scary stories! It all came about like this:
1. I’m pretty tired of staying inside and looking out at the blah, dreary, gray weather.
2. Deciding to beard the lion in his den (lion being the blah, dreary, gray weather) I ventured forth, doing some outside chores which included filling the bird feeders.
3. In an effort to channel discomfort into a positive situation, I grabbed my camera, sat down on the deck, and waited for winter birds to come to the sunflower seeds.
That’s where the chilblains (or nearly so) came in. I waited, camera poised, finger on the trigger, I mean shutter, and waited some more. After a while I couldn’t feel my left hand so well, so it ceased to suffer. My right hand was still OK so I proceeded to snap a few pictures of grateful birds. True, they aren’t the best pictures in the world, but hey!Although dedicated, I was extremely cold.
Love the little winter birds. Sometimes up home when it’s -30 something, I wonder how those little things don’t freeze right on the tree branches. Hmm … must be the wonderful Creator who knows when one of them falls! We are settled into our Texas home. Quite cool here too but not as bad as up in Canada right now.
It’s good to hear from you, Sharon. I’m glad you are snug and warm in Texas. Yes, this winter here is pretty cold. So far, not that much snow. Our weather forecast keeps changing.
