A question–why is a day we don’t have to work called Labor Day? Shouldn’t it be called Non-Labor Day or Fun Day or Put Your Feet Up and Read a Book Day?
This Labor Day will be different for many because of the new regulations. Not so different for me. Each Labor Day, as an annual tradition, I make sure I mop a floor. I’m not sure when I even started the “mopping the floor” business to celebrate a day off from work. Sounds odd, doesn’t it? It also sounds like I mop only once a year which, I assure you, isn’t true. However, there’s something about a nice, shiny floor that puts me in a grateful mood. I have the physical ability to mop, to even get down on hands and knees and really scrub. While in that position, on knees, I usually send up a prayer to the Good Lord too. A lot to be thankful for this Labor Day.
To my way of thinking, the best way to celebrate Labor Day is by settling into a favorite chair, coffee or tea close at hand, opening a cozy mystery, and reading. So, happy Reading a Cozy Mystery Day!
