Another birthday has come and gone, and I’m reminded of what a wonderful family I have and what great friends. Thanks to one and all. It’s hard to believe just how many birthdays I’m talking about, so we’ll lightly skip over them.
Changes! There’ve been an unbelievable number of changes through the years. Things which were science fiction when I was a child are now reality. Beloved people have come into my life; beloved people have gone. And yet, here I am.
This has been a rainy week, as it usually is around my birthday. I was born during a terrific rainstorm, my mom told me, so the weather is fitting. I’ve always loved the rain and maybe that’s why.
On this green and wet April morning, the birds are going about their business of nesting. They flit through tree limbs and light on the window ledge, peeking in at me. Many kinds of birds come to my yard and I welcome them all. The empty hummingbird feeder reminds me that I must fill it and hang it for the hungry little hummers.
The flowers in the front yard with which my children gifted me are bright on this dark morning. Red geraniums, pink petunias, yellow daisies, and silvery Dusty Millers all lift their heads to the rain.
Another spring, another day. Blessings fall like raindrops, and I’m grateful for them all.
