Being Nosy

Being Nosy

Life has more real mysteries than a writer could ever dream up. Sometimes, there seems to be no answer, and the mystery itself is an appetizer leaving me longing for the solution. One hundred forty-five years have passed since the mystery of a ship named the Mary Celeste. No, she didn’t disappear, but everyone on board did. Why? What prompted them to leave the safety of their sturdy ship for the choppy and turbulent Atlantic? What do you think happened? If you were writing the ending of the mystery, what would you write?

I’ve faced the fact long ago that I’m basically nosy. Not in a bad, mean way, but in an “I’m interested in what’s happening” way. Being curious about the world around me is not the same as being a gossip, which is a trait I hope never to have or be accused of. It’s pretty detestable. But, curiosity? Well, I see nothing wrong with that.

I’m drawn to reading mysteries, bur I steer clear of the hard-nosed, gritty kind. I like cozy mysteries with the unexpected twist. Hence, the two mystery series, Ned McNeil and Darcy Campbell. It’s a great deal of fun to follow these gals on their exploits and find out where their curiosity leads them. Mysteries! Being just a wee bit nosy is the only way to solve them.
