There has never been a time before this, to my knowledge,when young people have been so much under attack from so many different places. Youngsters of today have to deal with issues that hadn’t entered the minds of anyone a few years back. Now, suddenly, from many directions, they are being told this or that and are subjected to forces that are hard for adults to understand, much less kids.
However, I have confidence that this upcoming generation will deal with whatever they must deal with and they will come out of the fray as winners. They are smart; they are courageous, and they are talented.
Last night, I was privileged once again to hear a large group of talented teens, of which my grandson is a member, present their spring concert. Those young people could sing!They were disciplined and focused, and oh, so talented! As their voices soared to the ceiling of the great auditorium, my heart soared too. They are facing and will face many problems in this confusing world, but I believe they are up to the task. In spite of all the turmoil and changes and ideologies, they sang. And, my heart sang too. They are the beautiful part of this troubled world and we’ll all make it through, as long as the children can sing.
Every generation has a new set of challenges. Hearing the joy of song does offer hope they are capable of living up to whatever is thrown their way!
