Cornbread and biscuits are baked and crumbed, mixed with onion, celery, and sage, the makings for dressing. Cranberries are cooked and sitting in a bowl, red and sugary; yeast bread is inside the ‘frig, waiting to be popped into the oven this morning.
Yesterday, Nathan was in the kitchen, stirring and measuring ingredients for a yummy pumpkin pie. The pie cook used to be Sara, then Sara and Nathan and now, with Sara not coming home until December, the pumpkin pie baker is Nathan. Dawn and Matt will bring the turkey and vegetables. All is in readiness for today.
Thanksgiving Day is cold and gray outside but bright with good cheer inside. Soon, three-fourths of my family will gather around my mother’s table with hearts full of gratitude, sharing another blessed Thanksgiving Day and looking forward to next month when we’ll all be together for Christmas!
Sounds homey. Happy Thanksgiving! We are getting the family together Friday. I wonder how many people will celebrate a different day so that all members can be together.
I imagine a lot of people will be doing that. Some I know have already celebrated; some will celebrate tomorrow. Have a blessed day with your family, Linda.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, BLANCHE! May it feel as good as it will taste!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and Duke, Kimberly. Have a wonderful, warm, blessed day (warm on the inside, at least!)
