Are you okay this morning? Did you survive Halloween, full moon, time change, and the small earthquakes in Oklahoma, Texas, California, and Alaska? Take a deep breath, look around, and enjoy this first day of November–a brand-new month, a momentous month for several reasons.
Happy birthday to all my readers whose birthday comes this month. You can claim the chrysanthemum as your birth flower. It’s one of my favorites. And, that lovely ring on your finger–is it a Topaz? A Citrine?
Some of my favorite people were born this month. You must be over-flowing with creativity and curiosity and a love of finding out why things work as they do. You share birthdays with some pretty famous people: Daniel Boone, Mark Twain, Sojourner Truth, Charles Shulz, Marie Curie, Alan Shepherd, Georgia O’Keefe, George Eliot, and Grace Kelly. But, none of these people is more important than You! You are special because there’s only one of you and you are unique.
Did you enjoy the extra hour’s sleep this morning or were you up and at ’em at the old Daylight Savings Time? Personally, I do not like changing the time. Now, we in Arkansas are back on good old Central Standard. Let’s keep it that way. Changing the clock is hard on people, on schedules, and on animals. For example, Nemo expects supper around five o’clock. Now, he’ll expect it around four!
But, we are resilient, aren’t we? We take change in stride, up to a certain point, and then we say, No more! So, let’s enter November with hopefulness and a smile. It’s bound to be a month of surprises. Let’s hope they are, by and large, good ones. At the end of the month, if we’re asked, “Are you okay?” We’ll be able to answer, “You bet. Never better.”
Blanche, you hit the nail on the head! Hopefulness and a smile are truly the keys to a happy life. Regardless of what’s going on the news, we can be steadfast in our belief that beneath the stormy surface, we are one human family learning to love one another. ♥ Take care of yourself and know it’s all okay!
Thanks for writing, Kim. Yes, we have to encourage each other. The world is rather short on encouragement. Take care, both you and Duke.
