It has been a while since we’ve heard from our Roving Reporter but here she is, catching up with Darcy and Flora on the front porch of their new house in Ventris County, Oklahoma.
Roving Reporter: I love your house! But, don’t you miss your old house in Levi? It had personality, character.
Flora: I can go back into town and visit that old house any time I want to. Sure, I love it but I love this one too. It represents how I’m feeling since my daughter and I came through our latest escapade. I admit there were some things in that old well that were Best Left Buried but I feel freer and lighter, and like I want to start a new chapter in this book of life. What better way to do that than with a new house?
RR: Wow! You are waxing poetic. Darcy? How about you? Do you like living way out here in the sticks among the owls and wolves and such? And, how does Grant like this house? It seems awfully big for just you and Flora. Are there wedding plans in your immediate future?
Darcy (blushing): Oh, my goodness! I think I’ll repeat one of Mom’s favorite sayings, “Least said, soonest mended.” Yes, I like this house very much and I think our old house in Levi will be rented soon.
RR (rubbing her arms and shivering): You know, you are awfully far out of town and what is that in the distance? An old graveyard? Do you feel a chill?
Darcy: Actually, now that you mention it, I’ve had this feeling all day, you know, as if something is about to happen but I don’t pay any mind to premonitions. That’s Mom’s department.
Flora: True, I do believe in premonitions–not that I like getting them, but sometimes I sort of feel things. For instance, right now I feel that we all need a coffee re-fill. Would you like to come in and see our new kitchen?
RR: Yes, I would, thank you. And then I’d better go. It’s getting late and actually, I don’t want to be out on these country roads after dark.
Flora (smiling): There’s nothing to hurt you in these woods. Well, maybe a panther or a bobcat or something but they would be more afraid of you than you are of them.
Reporter: I’ll take your word for it. Maybe I’ll skip that coffee. The sun is about to set and I think I hear thunder in the distance. Thanks for the interview and please, if at all possible, could you two stay out of trouble?
