Amazing Crafters

Saturday was a fun day with my brother and sister-in-law at a local craft fair. I was amazed at the amount of creativity and ingenuity on display. How do people think of so many amazing things and then have the skill to make what they have imagined: lovely, hand-made jewelry, crocheted clothes, caps, and animals, paintings, Santas who were regal and beautiful, and at least one booth with a local author who writes exciting children’s books.

Lunch was under the trees, bought from one of the vendors who frequent craft fairs. It seemed especially tasty because it was eaten in the open air and  background music was provided by a very vocal mocking bird who took it as his duty to sing his joy at being in such a happy gathering. The two people shared our table who were from Ohio. It was fun to talk to these strangers and we soon felt like we had made new friends.

It was a good day, a happy day, and I came home with a couple of items I’d had no intention of buying before I saw them. It was fun, but what I enjoyed most was talking to people. Crafters are friendly, always ready to talk. That was my favorite part of the whole day, the conversations. Believe me, everybody had a story to tell or maybe two or three stories. And, I was happy to listen.

  1. Wish we’d been able to go too, Blanche. It sounds wonderful. I love crafters and want to do most of them too! And so glad you ran into Meg. TWO exciting book writers in Springdale! (And maybe more?)

    • I wish you and Duke could have gone too, Kimberly. It was fun and perfect weather for it. It was fun to see Meg again. I saw her last year too.

  2. I used to go to tons of craft shows, but then ran out of room. I still go occasionally, but hardly get anything.
