A little old man and a little old lady lived ‘neath a tree root where all was cool and shady.
As their family grew, their home got larger too–a middle and an upper floor, their breezy tree home grew.
To keep track of all their children, they gave each one a name
And, even with a tree full, they loved them all the same.
Alphabetically speaking, they labeled one and all.
Each child answered to his name when he heard the parents call.
A was for Abigail, B was for Brock,; C stood for Catherine and D was for Doc.
E was for Evelyn and F was for Frank; G was for Geraldine and H was for Hank.
I stood for Imogene and J was for John; K began Kimberly and L was for Lon.
M was for Madeline, N was for Nat; O was for Ophelia and P was for Pat.
Q started Quinnie Sue, R started Rod; S was for Susan Lee and T was for Tod.
U for was Uvalene, V was for Vick; W stood for Willadeen and X was for Xick.
Y was for Yolanda and Z was for Zack. The children in their tree house made for a lively stack.
What would have happened with one more, one sweet and lovely child?
No one will ever know for sure; it would have been too wild.
(Kind of like this poem.)
