A Wonderful Chill

A Wonderful Chill

A wonderful crispness greeted me as I opened the door this morning. There’s a chill in the air. A new feeling. Is it because school is starting next week? Is it because summer is winding down? I haven’t read a cozy mystery this morning, so it can’t be that. When school starts, I am ready for fall. Summer has had its fling. Bring on apples and pumpkins, frost and sweaters.

I see one of  several walkers going past my window on the world. She has been walking dogs up my street for years. She moves along at a good clip, summer or winter. She is very lean and so are her dogs. Good exercise, walking. I should do more of it.

The man I used to see walking past my window doesn’t go down the street any more. Perhaps he walks in another direction. He definitely was walking for his health because when he first started, he walked with a walker and wore long, white support hose. At first, I didn’t realize he was wearing the special stockings and thought he had the whitest legs I had ever seen! Then I realized he must have had surgery and the hose as well as the walker were for well-being. After the walker, he graduated to a cane and now he doesn’t go past at all. So he must be well.

Anyway, on this wandering Wednesday, those are my thoughts. It’s a lot easier to walk in cool weather than in hot weather. People who stay with it no matter the season have my utmost admiration.                                                                                                                ___________________________________________________________________________

Walking is the only exercise I can do but I can’t do it in the heat so I am looking forward to cooker Temps so I can get out and start again. I love fall because of the cool temps, colors and the crispness it beings
