Today, at 4 o’clock, I’ll be a voice on the airwaves. My interview with Nancy Kay Grace will be aired. It’ll also be archived, so if you don’t tune in at 4 o’clock today, you can click on the link and listen to it later. Nancy’s program is Living Life Unedited, through the CWA radio network. The Cozy Critters met yesterday. My dining table was replete with coffee, cookies, and lively conversation. Peg, newly returned from her vacation at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, told us about some of the memorable times there with her family. She has also been reading a lot, as usual. Toasting Up Trouble by Linda Wiken, was one of the latest books she has read. This is a Dinner Club mystery, the first book in a new series and promises tasty reading for the cozy mystery connoisseur.
Jane is writing and illustrating a story/poem called “Jackie the Jumping Jack Rabbit” inspired by her mother’s pet when she was a child growing up in Oklahoma. She is also editing two other children’s stories, “Marty The Mall Bird” and “Charlotte The Mouser Cat.” Jane uses words to paint beautiful pictures; she also uses paints and colored pencils. She is a multi-talented lady.
As well as having her radio program, Nancy is involved in many other activities. She and her husband Rick recently returned from hosting a marriage seminar in Tennessee. While in that beautiful southern state, Nancy had a close encounter of the wrong kind with a zip-line. She has a bruise on the calf of her leg as a memento. She and Rick attended a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater (can you tell her association with a cozy mystery writer is making an impact?)
Nancy hosted a blogging workshop in Tulsa and one in Fayetteville. She is a member of the Arkansas Women Bloggers and is the September Blogger of the Month.
The Cozy Critters are a wonderful critique group. Yesterday, they gave me several helpful ideas on what to include in The Fright of the Silvery Moon, the second book in the Moonlight series. If I’m stuck in a scene and don’t know how to get out, they’ll throw me a lifeline. If I’ve lost my way, they’ll point out directions. They have discerning eyes and ears and are a vital part of my writing process.
I love the description Jane wrote, three years ago, about our critique group: “We are sometimes like scientists discovering new ideas, doctors discussing alternative ways for treatment, critics with a gentle tongue, and readers of all things written; but, most of all, friends! And, believe me, we know how to keep secrets.”
