The Christmas tree, decorations, Santa gourds, Christmas candles, are all packed away. Some people leave everything up until January 6, Twelfth Night, but I’ve never done that. When another year rolls around, I like to have the old year snugly put away.
This was a wonderful Christmas, a time of being with my family. I have memories of other Christmases and now, Christmas 2018 will be a happy memory, a glow in the grayness of winter.
My niece Missy sent beautiful pictures of the wintry scenery in northern Minnesota. She and my brother and nephew will continue their celebration this weekend, the time when they could all be together. As I looked at the frosted trees and all that snow, I felt a bit envious. Now, that truly looks like Christmas!
But, a new month and a new year will be here in only a couple of more days. New opportunities, new experiences that will become memories. My prayer is that they will be happy ones, experiences we can unpack and look back on, and keep them tucked inside our hearts.
