A Little of This, a Little of That, Mixed Together Into a Chatty Hodgepodge
A low, steady roar greeted me as I opened the door this morning. It will continue, non-stop for the next four days. That sound comes around every year, just like the changing season. It’s the sound of thousands of motorcycles in Fayetteville. More than 300,000 are gathering for the annual Bikes, Blues, and BBQ festival. I’m sure it brings in lots of revenue for merchants and those motorcycles are beautiful. It also brings in noise and lots of crowded streets.
Watering my flowers is on this morning’s agenda. The nice rain we had Sunday perked them up but now they are needing another long drink. I’ll be glad when fall rains get here.
The ongoing Project Clean Garage is coming along slowly but surely. One of these days, it’ll be all neat and organized and I’ll be surprised at the things I’ve found.
I’ve just finished reading two Cat in the Stacks books by Miranda James. The first was Arsenic and Old Books. The book I’ve just finished is No Cats Allowed. I plan to return to the library this morning and see if I can find another interesting book that invites me to step right inside an imaginary world and make myself at home.
Nemo sits on the floor beside me as I type. He looks up at me anxiously. He does not like this computer. If I go into the other room, he’s fine. This attitude started some time last winter. I’d like to know why he feels this way. It’s very hard to type when someone is staring at me, non-stop, and communicating the message that he wants me up and out of this chair, if you please.
My coffee mug is empty. That means it’s time for another re-fill of my favorite Folgers Columbian. Which reminds me of another story. Years ago, I sat in a Spanish class taught by a profesora from Columbia. She was a small, patient woman who wanted her students to learn to speak correct Spanish. I tried. Generally, she was pleased with me. When I wanted to show off my pronunciation and win accolades from my teacher, I’d say, “Me gusta el cafe, de Columbia, por supuesto.” Anyway, I think she liked the fact that we both agreed on Columbian coffee.
After wandering all over the place in this morning’s chat, let me say I hope you have a wonderful day, full of nice surprises, and if you encounter any mysteries at all, may they be of the nice, cozy variety that are available at the library and the bookstore.
