Yesterday, seven friends met at Robbie’s house for our monthly luncheon: Peg, Jane, Beth, Deb, Susan as well as Robbie and me. Food was mouth-waterin’ good: broccoli casserole, chicken and dumplings, frito pie, salads, cinnamon cake, cornbread…you name it, everybody’s favorite was on the list and we had a lot of choices. As I wrote yesterday–choices. Life is made up of them. So, after Susan blessed the food, we dug in.
Conversation around the table flowed easily from the trouble in the Philippines to mysteries (I wonder who brought that subject up?) to pets and the latest NetFlix movie.
Robbie is gifted artistically and has a green thumb as well. So, after lunch we migrated to the back yard and admired all the flowers. She and her husband also have a neat vegetable garden. One of the flowers that was outstanding was the calla lily. I’ve never seen one more beautiful. This picture was not of Robbie’s lily, but it’s a similar one.
The weather cooperated and waited until we all got home before unleashing another torrent of rain. My flower pot looks as if I may have gotten an inch.
It was a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours and as I left to drive back home, I found myself looking forward to next month’s luncheon.
