Maria Norcia Santillanes invited me to write a series of posts on her blog page. The first was published yesterday. I feel honored that she is allowing me to guest post several times.

My friend Fran, who is down-sizing, gave me a box of her antique postcards. They allow a glimpse into yesterday, a peek at what life was like more than a hundred years ago. The cards are unique and beautiful. Some of them date back to 1906 or 1909. Stamps were a penny then. They were sent for all reasons: Easter, birthday, travel cards. Some have really poignant messages. One read, “Mother, what have I done that you are not writing to me?” I sure hope his mom wrote to him quickly after receiving that plea.
Some of the post cards are humorous. Such is “The Old Chamber Pot.” I re-publish it here because I think you’ll get a laugh. I’m just glad those pots are a thing of the past–long past!
What fun to see how you put this all together! I knew you’d like the chamber pot card!
The son to mother card touched my heart, too!
Have you come across the Folgers advertising card yet?
Such fun to share with you, Blanche! I’ve found some more books you’ll like, too! : )
Yes, I found the Folger’s card. That’s pretty neat. It looks as if they may been into spices at one time. I really enjoy these cards. Thanks again.
