Christmas Is Coming, the Goose Is Getting Fat

Christmas Is Coming, the Goose Is Getting Fat

Christmas is indeed coming in about five weeks. Have you started your Christmas list? I’ve started, but I have a long way to go. If I had a goose, he’d probably be getting fat. We didn’t have geese when I was a child. Chickens, yes. Geese? No.

To my way of thinking, books should be on everyone’s list. I have favorite books that I’ve read again and again. Mary Roberts Rinehart books, Gone with the Wind, Thornton W. Burgess books, Understood Betsy. You can tell my taste in books is pretty simple, maybe even child-like? However, since leaving college, I have never felt pressured to read a certain book just because I ought to. That’s probably to my own stubborn detriment.008

In this day and time, Kindle books, Nook books, audio books are in style and make great Christmas gifts. But, if you are one who wants a book that will grace your shelf and be handed down to your children, old-fashioned paper books can’t be beat. They’ve been around a long time and will be around for years longer.

My favorite genre is cozy mystery. I like to read them. I like to write them. Four Darcy and Flora cozies are available, three, The Cemetery Club, Grave Shift, Best Left Buried are in ebook or paperback or audio book. The fourth one, Grave Heritage, is already an ebook and paperback and will soon be an audio book too.

Moonlight Can Be Murder is not yet an audio book but it’s out there, at Pen-L.com, Amazon.com, and BarnesandNoble.com. I am particularly partial to it right now because it’s the only book of mine that centers around Christmas and snow and a house-size inheritance. For my Canadian friends, all my books are available at amazon.ca.

Do you have any geese at your house? Do you plan on one for Thanksgiving or Christmas, or are you going to stick with turkey or ham? As well as food for the stomach, how about food for thought, a gift with no calories but with lasting appeal? One that’ll go with you anywhere you want to go? Christmas is coming. How about a book?
