A nice, gentle rain has been falling for hours. It’s hard to get up and get going when the morning is dark, thunder rumbles in the distance and raindrops are pattering a lullaby.
Last night, Nemo, my camera and I prowled my back yard just before sunset. It was a study in light and dark. It is not a manicured yard although I had planned to do a whole lot more to it this spring. But, to me, it is nice. Nemo and I like it. He trotted around, found interesting scents, and barked at squirrels who were hugely unconcerned as they teased him from the tree tops.
Nemo does not enjoy all the fireworks of the Fourth of July. I’ve thought about getting a thunder shirt for him but haven’t done that. I’m not sure even that would work when the noise is so loud. Being of the canine persuasion, he doesn’t understand Independence Day nor celebrating freedom. I hope that the people who set off the fireworks do. Understand, that is.
On this dark, wet morning, only one thing can get my eyes truly open and my brain functioning: coffee! I hope your Lord’s Day is a happy, peaceful one, whether you have rain or sunshine and you enjoy a good, steaming cup of Folgers to start your day.
