In the Tornado’s Path

This morning my heart is heavy for those who were in the path of the storm in Moore, Oklahoma. Yesterday afternoon a monster storm roared into town, obliterating much of it, destroying lives and shattering hearts. When I hear about the children who died in the school, I confess that I can’t comprehend nor understand. Scripture tells us to “weep with them that weep” (Romans 12:15). That isn’t hard to do this morning.

Have you ever noticed how much brighter a candle seems at night than it does during the day? The stories I am hearing of the kindness, concern, and willing  hands of those who are coming to help are like candles, lights of hope in the darkness of horror and grief. In the face of devastation and despair, hearts are stirred and even complete strangers do all they can to help.

My prayers go out to the survivors in Moore and to the families and friends of those who were lost yesterday.

“The Lord bless you and keep you;  The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you;

“The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26).
