In a distant neighbor’s yard, sunlight brightens the top of a tall tree. Here, the trees are still in shadow but a cardinal sits atop a dark branch, looking down at the dampish grass as the sunlight edges ever closer. In the darkness, the cardinal is like a small, red flame.
Isn’t life like that at times? We see sunshine on other places, places where we are not and we wonder why all we see are shadows. When we are sad or fearful, morning seems far away, as if night is all there is. But like that small cardinal, God’s love is with us, and the sunlight will return and the day will be bright again.
“(The Lord’s mercies) are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:23).
Beautiful!
Thank you, Teresa.
