Isn’t it interesting that common, ordinary, everyday things can somehow be involved in mysteries? Isn’t it odd that a peaceful scene of trees, creek, and grassy hills are an alien landscape, unknown and frightening when they are covered in fog?
How could a gold ring and a legend incite someone to murder? And, a letter in the mailbox asking for help? Surely nothing could be less dangerous than that. Could it? An old well, been on the place for decades and nobody paid it any mind but that well completely changed the course of life for two women. I will admit a wet and bedraggled man appearing at the door during a thunderstorm and people who keep disappearing could be considered a little odd, a little unusual and, yes, mysterious to say nothing of frightening.
These and more appear in The Cemetery Club, Grave Shift, Best Left Buried and the upcoming Grave Heritage. Nothing exotic required here, no foreign places, magic carpets, Aladdin’s Lamps or extra-terrestrial happenings. Just everyday folk who find themselves embroiled in a puzzling, dangerous situation and determine to solve a mystery. I guess you might say these books are murderously mysterious.
