Frost on rooftops, sun on orange maple leaves; fall is here at thirty-three degrees this morning. Max the cat, whose abundant fur coat keeps him warm and toasty stalks in regal dignity toward home. A few minutes ago, he sat on my front sidewalk finishing his morning toilette.
Yesterday, I sat down for a good visit with a dear friend. I see her in church each Sunday but we don’t have much time for talking so yesterday, over milkshakes and coffee, we caught up on what has been going on in each of our lives. Why don’t we actually physically go visit as much any more? People get lonely despite technology and “connecting” via Facebook or email. We have a need to sit with the warmth of real friends and real coffee and share a conversation.
Technology, however, is wonderful and I never cease to be amazed at its possibilities. A few days ago I took a class on File Management. It was a lot of fun. This computer can do things that I haven’t even thought of (of course).
Through the magic of the internet and the superb direction of my webmaster I am able to make friends that I’ve never seen. A wonderful email and comment about yesterday’s post really cheered me.
Speaking of technology, Moonlight Can Be Murder has garnered some nice reviews. I’m very appreciative of each one. Here are a couple of the newest ones from Amazon:
I really enjoyed this mystery. It kept me guessing. Nettie is a widow and goes back to Oklahoma to see her uncle. She gets there to find that he is dying. His last words are cryptic and she needs to figure out what he meant. She reconnects with some old friends and makes some new friends. Who can she trust?
Blanche Day Manos captured my interest from the first paragraph in her new book Moonlight Can Be Murder. I found myself transported to the small town of Ednalee, working right along side of Nettie McNeil, trying to solve the mysteries of today and the mysteries of 40 years ago. From the moment she receives a foreboding letter from an uncle, just released from prison and whom she has not seen in decades, Nettie embarks on journey full of suspense and twists. As she rekindles old friendships and deals with her own guilt of not being closer to family, she learns that things are not always as they seem. An easy to read and entertaining novel! Looking forward to reading more in the series.
Moonlight is the first in a new series but fans of Darcy and Flora, don’t despair! A fourth mystery with these sleuths is in the works, Grave Heritage. In it, they have moved into their new house but, true to form, a mystery followed them.
So, onward into a weekend with Thanksgiving drawing ever closer and many people and things for which to be thankful. I hope this crispy fall weather makes you feel as if you could “run through a troop and leap over a wall” (Psalm 18:29).
