Thanks to everyone who have been downloading Best Left Buried as a free ebook and have also decided to purchase The Cemetery Club and Grave Shift to go along with it. Remember this is the last day for the free book.
One of the perks of writing is I get to meet other authors and make new friends. At a writers’ conference more than a year ago, I met another writer who believes in writing clean books, as I do. (And there are many of us in the librosphere.) This morning, she showcases my books as well as the books of four other authors. Her name is Judy Nickles. Please click on her blog and admire the pretty website, get acquainted with other writers, check out Judy’s books, and of course read the piece about Darcy and Flora. Thank you, Judy, for an excellent job! http://www.judythewordplace.blogspot.com
Along the same line as writing books that leave a person feeling better, not worse, I am thinking this morning of the influence of television shows. I like mysteries, of course, and also shows that give me a laugh or two or are just plain uplifting! But, I’ve noticed an alarming trend that seems to be spreading, like a yawn or a sneeze, through other TV news shows. I call them “Gotcha” shows. They dwell on wrong decisions, alarming mistakes, glaring misdeeds. The TV hosts ask leading questions about things that actually are not pertinent to anything except maybe shocking the audience or wrecking a reputation. It’s like the host is saying, “OK. I gotcha.” To my way of thinking, that’s not newsworthy. But then, those are just my views and they are the only views I have. You may look at it quite differently.
Anyway, I enjoy television shows, books, and people that leave me feeling better, believing that there’s a lot of good in this world, rejoicing that I serve a God who forgives and wipes the slate clean, and hoping for a better tomorrow.
