I’ve never known a lot about hospitals. I know a little more now than I did a week ago. Friday night I went to the emergency room because my heart was doing weird and unusual things. The doctor called it atrial fibrillation or A-Fib. What is A-Fib? It’s where the top part of the heart runs away with itself, almost fluttering and the bottom part doesn’t do the same. The result? Blood pools in the bottom part which could cause a blood clot and, in that area, a blood clot would be exceedingly bad.
So, the cardiologist said, come Monday, he’d give my heart a little electrical jolt and the two halves would once again be in sync. But, you know what? Sunday night, my heart stopped fibrillating and went back into rhythm all by itself. When I say that, it isn’t really true because it had quite a bit of help from God. Many prayers were going up and I thank all those friends and family who prayed.
But, even though my heart was now behaving, the doctor wanted to do tests to see if there had been any damage. So, my goodness, EKGs, echocardiograms, stress test, heart monitor, IV drips, I had ’em all. My arms kind of resemble a sieve.
It was an humbling, learning experience. I learned that the nurses and technicians in the cardio unit must be among the world’s most efficient and kindest. I got acquainted with a few and hope they have happy lives and bring help to many. I also learned that visits and phone calls from friends and family does as much as medicine. My own family did double duty with keeping things and Nemo going here at my house as well as their own. The Lord blessed me me with the best kids in the world.
However, I cannot do much writing or book promotion from a hospital bed and so I’ve got to get busy with Darcy and Flora . But, I’m grateful for the opportunity. Everything went well and happily but I’m well aware they could have gone the other way. Except for prayers. And love. And the goodness of the Lord.

So glad you are better Prayers work. Rest too besides all the writing.
Yes prayers work miracles and I’m a big believer.
Glad to hear you are doing okay, Blanche. We certainly don’t know from one day to the next what can happen. Do whatever is needed to heal. I am always amazed at the dedication and kindness of our doctors and nurses too. Definitely not the easiest job. Take care, my friend.
I’m really glad to be home, Sharon. Results of prayers. Thank you so much for writing.
