Does anybody possibly remember a very old song entitled, “Just Roamin’ in the Gloamin'”? It’s a Scottish song popular more than a hundred years ago but I still know it! Now, what does that tell you? Since the “gloaming” is twilight, I did my roaming before then, actually. And, I didn’t roam far–just my front and back yards. Instead of my laddie by my side, I had my trusty camera. I want to share the roamin’ in the gloamin’ pictures with you.
Hard though it is to believe, the sun actually came out this afternoon. Bill left the sky a beautiful blue and the washed-clean green looked very pretty against it.
And then, there’s the bee balm. It had a couple of bumblebees buzzing around but they were so skittish, they flew before I could snap a picture.
Some plants attract insects. Some repel them. Like this citronella which is supposed to be abhorrent to mosquitoes. I can only hope! Although, with the type of hungry mosquitoes in my yard, I think they would need a whole forest of citronella plants.
In the front yard, the day lilies are blooming. I hadn’t planned for these little guys to bloom here. I had removed them from another flower bed and put them here temporarily. First thing I knew, they took root and said Thank you for the change of scenery. So, they’ll stay.
And, this clover blossom didn’t seem to contain a village of Who’s even though the one in Dr. Seuss’ book hid many of the tiny little critters. Horton heard them but I didn’t. Maybe I just didn’t listen close enough.
Anyway, the plants have soaked up the rain and now they are ready for a bit of sunshine. So am I. And, whether it’s the gloamin’ or the mornin’, roamin’ through the flowers is a pretty nice thing to do.
