I’m glad Bill came to visit; he’s such a useful guest. Others may not like him and think him quite the pest. But I use him as the reason for each and every ill. For all the bad that happens, I say, “Just blame Bill.”
And, may I say that Tropical Storm Bill just down yonder off the Texas Coast may be in danger of over-staying his welcome. His over-powering personality is being felt in us land-locked states like Oklahoma and Arkansas.
But, since I can’t do anything about the fact that he is here, I may as well make the most of his visit.
When I step outside my door, I feel as if I’ve entered a greenhouse. Warm, damp weather. And, several times during the day those low and hovering clouds that seem to like it here open up and down comes a deluge.
But, oh joy! What a good excuse for a bad hair day. The fun thing is, nobody can have picture-perfect hair in this kind of weather, so I fit right in! Is my floor a little muddy? Well, who could keep it clean when the yard is soggy and a certain furry creature who lives here tracks back and forth from the out-of-doors to in?
Do I feel a bit grumpy, just a tad snippy, slightly out of kilter? Who wouldn’t, with a week of clouds, rain, humidity, dirty floors, sagging curls? The fault of course, is not my temper, it’s that ornery Bill!
Did my writing hit a snag? Not my fault! I blame Bill!
However, there’s a limit to hospitality. Although the grass and plants love Bill and thrive because he’s here, it seems to me it may be time for a little sunshine. But, after he’s gone, who in the world will I blame when things go wrong? Surely, not me!

I don’t know, I think your hair looks pretty good!
So far my friends in Galveston are doing okay. Hope there isn’t too much more flooding in Houston though.
Thanks for the compliment, Sharon. I hope there’s no really bad flooding in Texas again and that your friends remain safe.
I love it I agree it is Bill’s fault. I always blame Arthur Ritis he comes and stays and never goes away. He makes it hard to do just about everything and he gets to causing so much ache and pain that he to can make me grouchy and it does help that he brings his friend Fibro Myalgia with him and they keep me awake at night that adds to me wanting to be lazy. I thank you Blanche for this post I can so relate and you put a smile on my face
Thank you for the inventive comment, Deb. That’s right on! I know a little bit about those fellows.
Cute, cute
Thanks!
