The World By Snowlight

The World By Snowlight

What a beautiful world this morning–clean and white. It’s funny the way snow lights up the darkness. It’s a long time to sunrise. Besides, clouds cover the sky. But my street, the yards and rooftops are as visible as if a light shone on them. Snowlight! It’s a lovely phenomenon.

The temperature is right at seventeen degrees and snow is still falling. Another thing about snow is that it muffles sound. A hush and stillness cover the earth that only snow can bring.

Snow is a perfect backdrop for a warm day beside the fireplace with a cup of coffee and a good book close at hand. The bears and groundhogs know how to celebrate winter–they hibernate. That’s a good thing for humans to try. The snow closes us in, coaxing us to slow down, pick up a cozy mystery, take a short trip to Levi, Oklahoma and drop in on Darcy and Flora for a good, hot cup of Folgers.
