Those Cozy Critters!

Those Cozy Critters!

The fireplace blazed and the aroma of coffee and peanut butter cookies filled the house. One by one, the Cozy Critters came, bringing with them news from the world of writing and art.

Nancy brought the interior layout for her forthcoming book, The Grace Impact. It is a beautifully designed and well-written book. We are all eager for it to come on the market and I’m sure you are eager too.

Jane brought her art work in progress. For some reason, art, writing, music all seem to go together. Jane is one of those gifted people who not only write but produce some beautiful paintings.

Helen brought two inspirational pieces for us to critique–A Tow Truck Experience and A Touchy Rock. Funny thing about critiquing Helen’s writings–they inspire me. They just make me feel better for having read them.

Peg has three books that she is reading. Did I tell you she is a prolific reader? She is into Joanne Fluke’s eighteenth book and is into Motive by Jonathan Kellerman which is definitely not a cozy but is the sort of book she can’t put down. And, after our discussion of the Randy Alcorn books at our last meeting, she is reading his book Heaven.

I am a serial reader and have been chomping at the bit waiting for Emily Brightwell’s newest book. When it appeared on Amazon, I snatched it up and read Mrs. Jeffries and the One who Got Away. I also read Jacob’s Coins by Lillian Larkin this week and am currently reading The Secret of Pembrooke Park by Julie Klassen.

American History has always fascinated me so, just for fun and a relaxation from cozies, I am writing a children’s story about a historical event. So, I read the group the part that I have finished and they were very encouraging. The story is told in first person. For some reason, I like to write that way. Oh! Did I tell you that I write the story as a cat?

Today we are back at our homes, writing, painting and praying. We are blessed to be able to meet for a cozy critique but many people in the world are not so blessed. Christians in the Mid-East are in dire peril and are suffering greatly; many are losing their lives for no other reason than their faith. As we go through the day, we must remember these brothers and sisters in the Lord. I hope you are praying too.

  1. Sounds like a wonderful time! I can’t imagine anything better than a house filled with the aroma of coffee, cookies, and laughter (especially on a winter’s day). Yes, very sad things happening in the world but Jesus was right when he said that if they persecuted him, they would persecute his followers and that Christians would be hated because of his name.

  2. The picture is darling.

Your historical story from the view point of a cat is delightful. I hope you will write some more from other historical events.
